Oklava founders Selin Kiazim and Laura Christie will be opening their second Turkish restaurant in May.
The 45-cover restaurant will open at 64 Grafton Way in London’s Fitzrovia and will focus on Turkish ‘pastas’ and wines from the Middle East, drawing inspiration from both the Kayseri region as well as from Selin’s Turkish Cypriot heritage. House-cured pastirma (cured beef) will also feature, alongside manti (Turkish dumplings) and erişte (egg noodles).
The menu will include snacks such as Cypriot hellim loaf with black sea fondue; starters such as veal sweetbreads with braised garlic, and slow-cooked celeriac with preserved mandarin; mains of roasted halibut with hamsili pilav, and Cornish duck breast, braised leg gözleme, grape molasses and black garlic; and desserts like pistachio and kaymakli katmer with mastic ice-cream.
Kiazim, who was one of the winners of the BBC Two programme Great British Menu last year, opened her debut restaurant Oklava in London’s Shoreditch in 2015 in partnership with Christie, who was formerly operations manager at Salt Yard Group.
